A Friend

How do you define "A Friend" ,
if one is ever to be found.
Not by the "inch" or the "mile",
you can't buy them by the pound.

A friend will share a tear with you,
your laughter and your mirth.
Sent especially to you from God,
to share your walk on Earth.

A friend will walk along with you,
be the weather foul or fair.
And when the going gets too tough,
you can count on them for prayer.

A friend will share their food with you,
give you the shirt upon their back.
Forgive you for the stupid things you do.
for the wisdom that you lack.

If they were handling out Oscars for friends,
you would be the first in line.
And I am so very lucky that,
you are a friend of mine.
