I read today that New Jersey has become
the 14th state in the nation
to allow the use of marijuana for patients
with chronic illnesses. When my kids were growing up . the idea was that
Marijuana was the demon drug ,certain to be the gate way to hard drugs.
Even California is thinking of making it legal and taxing it use.
New research based on what causes the most harm, dependency and
social costs now places Marijuana well below the effects of alcohol, and
tobacco use. And you are not going to believe this, that LSD is even
further down the list of damaging drugs. Don't know if any body
still takes the T. Leery trips anymore.
Perhaps it is the time to
de-criminalize Pot. If the war on drugs is wasting time and
resource
on this recreational drug, when it should be
targeting the hard stuff like Heroin , Cocaine, Barbiturates and
street Methadone, maybe some change in direction is needed.
My biggest problem with using Marijuana is that it can still
ruin you life. As long as it is illegal ,it can put you in jail. So
either get involved in changing the law, and work to get it off the
law books or quit using it.
The few young people, that I have
known to smoke pot on a regular basis usually were very sloppy
about their appearance, did poorly in school before they dropped out
completely, and eventually dropped out of about everything.
Anybody who smokes Marijuana and then gets in a vehicle and drives
, should get a double doze of punishment Same goes for drinking
alcohol and driving. But growing a small amount and using it in your
adult only home should not result in being arrested.
P.S. I
never have smoked anything or used illegal drugs personally, just
in case you are wondering.
