Gifts, Debts and Lessons

A neighbor man I know, just died today,
I can not say that I knew him well at all..
Not too much about him that I can even tell
A short description as to if he was short or tall .
I had but the chance to barely know his name,
When his soul's candle briefly began to flicker.
But he had no real strength left in him to flame ,
He wearied of the pain so his life passed quicker
We often set out so determined on life's highway,
We sometimes have a list of things we want to do
He is the one who knew where his assignment lay ,
The projects that he alone was really sent to do.
.
We know he had a special gift to give.
An old debt that he was prepared to pay.
A lesson he had to try and learn as well
As he traveled along life's broad highway.
As soon as this assignment for him was done.
His long sought victory was within his hand.
The race he choose to run , had been run.
He left us then, gone on to God's promise land.
