High Family Genealogy
Memorial for the Robert A. High Family 
Glenwood Cemetery, Crockett, Texas
June 21, 2005 

This beautiful memorial now marks the grave of the Robert A. High Family of Crockett Texas. On the back of the stone is the names of their 10 children.
6 of which are known to be buried with their parents.

 

The  family plot seemed centered in an area that was very peaceful and serene. The shadows of tall trees 
caused lights to dance  across  the monument.

The family plot  had the Patterson
 and the Baker Family as neighbors.

 

Edward E. High  is the great-grandson of this couple.

Edward High's grand father William Cloyd High is one of the children  that are listed on the back of the stone.

 Guests were Betty Sarver and David Galant of  
 the Houston County Historical Soc.

We decided to add a few artificial flowers but found the dirt was baked  almost rock hard.

 

One of the most unusual things at Glenwood was a flock of buzzards
 that were standing guard over some very old tombstones not far from where we were. When we parked the  van they immediately came to attention and raise their wings together
 in  what was either a posture of greeting, a salute maybe or was it  a hostile act  
intended to scare us away from the area they were guarding. ?  If this was a totem animal, we had to wonder what in the world,  the people buried there could have done to have buzzards  
standing watch over their tombstones.
