As our concept of sin has changed over the years.
So has our concept of God.
God started out as God the creator but got replaced with Darth Raider.
I guess it is not because God made man in His image
but the mankind makes God over to our image.

In the time of the 10 commandments and Moses,
the God who is currently known as Jehovah
( that name was used 6000 times as "Yahweh "as well as hundreds of other names
. in the original Hebrew writings) was a God of anger, jealous, harsh, hateful, vengeful ,
who urged his people ; an isolated nomadic tribe , to practice genocidal attacks on sometimes  innocent people, killing men, women and children. They wiped out 9 nations of people. and stole their land and other goods It is said that it was because  the other tribe were wicked people and that God was tired of fooling with them.

Look what God let Satan do to Job.
Job was a good man!
What about Noah and the Ark and all the people who were destroyed in that tale?
Sure wrong doing should be punished,
but punishing the family down to the 4^th generation is a bit much.

It maybe the human emotions attributed to God were not God’s motives at all.
But this is how an ancient people tried to justify their actions and explain the mystery of God. The 10 commandments apparently were not for the world but just for the people in the tribe
.It was okay to murder as long as it wasn’t another Hebrew.
Stealing peoples wives , children and property only applied to the tribe.
Women even of their tribe were property to be passed around between the men in the family.
If a women’s husband died they gave her to next of kin. Men would sleep (fornication) with as many women as they could afford to feed. Just call them  wives or concubines. Even Solomon for all his wisdom had taken wives from many countries.  He got in trouble over that.

Read the headlines today . Does all this killing and stealing property sound familiar ?
If our concept of sin has changed over the years, so has our ideas of what God should be,
changed over the centuries. Jesus gave us the glimpse of a New God in the New Testament. Some people try to tell us that Jesus is the Jehovah of the ancient testament. .
Unless Jehovah was totally misrepresented. by the early Hebrews I find that hard to believe.

Let me introduce you to my God.

My God is Good, There is no evil in Him.
When he says Thou shall not kill he means everybody not just your tribal family.
I am not talking about self defense.
 My God is kind and forgiving.
 If you do something that you are ashamed of you can go to him in prayer
and he will forgive you.
 But He expects you to turn away from the behavior.
and not continue to repeat the actions that got you in trouble in the first place.
He hates sin but loves the sinner.
My God is Love, He doesn’t want anybody to perish
And I think He weeps to see the mess we have made of this world.
My God is Light    (There is no darkness in him)
My God is Prosperous ,
He is rich beyond belief.   (He owns the universe)
My God Heals,  from broken heart to broken bodies.
My God give you Hope of a better tomorrow.
If not here in this world,  then  some where in His universe he is saving a place for you.
May not sound like the God of the Old Testament
.but I prefer a God who writes his law on your heart
 and that you can serve him out of love not fear.
Do I hear an Amen
