After working as a carpenter in Nacadoches Tx. he returned to Crockett Texas where worked at a cotton gin. His job was maintenance and repair of the two hugh diesel engines and other mechanical equipment. Erwin moved to Houston in 1942 where he worked for several different electrical companies repairing radios and electrical appliances.
