God Made Me a Rainbow
By Joan Estelle High

I was looking up my family tree, trying to locate an ancestor or two.
I saw the the DNA dots that made up me came in a rainbow hue.
There is a blue dot from a Swedish Grandpa way back in my line.
A German red dot and and a yellow one from a French ancestor of mine.
My mother had some Swiss ancestors to add to the melting pot.
Many folks lived on a mountain top as they were the purple dot.
These people gave me the Alpine build and legs strong as stone.
I do so love the mountains, makes me feel that I am almost home.
My paternal grand mother was a bonny lass, as Ireland was her scene.
So it is not any wonder that the dot she left me was an Emerald Green.
From her I got the love of music that has often cheered my Irish heart.
And now that I think about it, that is my favorite genetic color part.
I have a paper trail of grandmothers who carried forth the family tree.
Each one passed along a speck of DNA information especially to me.
I finally think I know the message that was contained in the pink dot.
That life is only what you make it , so give it every thing you've got.
So it is true God made me a Rainbow from those that have gone before.
I am the total sum of all these color dots and hopefully just a little more.
So if all the snow flakes are different then, there is nobody quite like me.
But we are all related cousins just on different places on our family tree.
