If you think the current situation at airport is
unconstitutional,
you should really love this one.
Effective after Dec 31, 2010,
they are going to start enforcement of Red Flag Act.
It was originally enacted sometime in 2008.
Various groups have been getting delays resulting in heading
off total compliance with this piece of "legal shit".
(My personal opinion)
Every time you apply for credit,
auto dealer, banks, credit unions and other financial
transaction
including your family doctor, lawyer or accountant you will be effected.
They claim it will help
I.D. thief,
but even if you pay cash
you will have to have
a complete background check, a search of public records
also your name will be run against a suspected terrorists list
plus the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Not only is this time consuming to any body wanting to sell anything
,
it is a complete invasion of privacy of American citizens.
You will not be able to buy a house, a car,
or a major appliance with out filling out a form that will ask 5
questions.
They will be require more than your name, address,
but also the name of every family member
I would think that giving data bases to people of unknown
character would
expose the customer to even more chances to be the victim of
Identity Thief.
Who ever voted for this should lose their job.
I have heard "Big Brother is Watching You"
but this is something I never expected in this country.
Some effort was made to exempt doctors , lawyers and accounting firms
,
by the House but the Senate never did do anything with the bill.
Check the Wheeling W. Va. News for the
story
of an auto dealer there who purchased computer soft wear that allows
him access to all his customers life history as he complies with this act.
He claims he keeps all the personal information locked up from
prying eyes
but I doubt that others sellers will take that many precautions.
If it is on a computer, any where it can be hacked into and used
by crooks.
Does any of this remind you of the "666 Mark
of the Beast" story from the bible.
Sound like just another freedom that is being put down to me.
Police State
tactics.
I guess we could opt our by buying our cars and homes from
individual instead of business. This act should give a boost to flea
markets
As poor as the economy is people might not notice it intrusions
because who can
afford to buy anything new, right now, anyway.
Now if I am mistaken about the Red Flag Rule,
please drop
me a line and explain what part I got wrong.
