cup flour Filling: 1
cup water Cut
butter into flour as for pie crust.
Add water and blend with fork.
Divide into 3 parts.
Lay on un-greased baking sheet and
with heel of hand work into 3 strips 3 inches by 9 inches, pinching edges
up a little.
Set aside and make topping. For
topping bring butter and water to hard boil over high heat in sauce pan.
Add flour all at once.
Remove from heat and beat until smooth.
Then add eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth.
Add almond flavoring. Spread
over tops of each strip of pastry, smoothing well to edge. Bake
at 350 about 45 minutes.
Top mixture will puff up, but will fall when cooling. Frost with powdered sugar frosting with almond flavor. Cut in diamonds. SERVE |
