The Ocean By My House
By Joan Estelle High
©2003

There is an ocean by our house, not many blocks away.
I love to steal down there to watch the waves at play.
I would hate to be a little fish, alone in that great sea.
I believe those big old waves sure would frighten me.

I see the gulls flying free, they climb and then soar.
Little waves clap their hands as out to sea they roar.
I get such a good feeling inside, as quietly I stand.
Think silently to my self alone what a  beautiful land.

I breath a hurried little prayer to thank a generous God.
For all the beauty He has given in the water, air and sod.
