I am taking a look at the book of Ephesians, I was interested in
finding more information about the above
"Spiritual Wickedness in High
Places. but before I got to Chapter 6 , this verse in Chapter 4 caught
my attention. It seems to sum up a great deal of what I personally
believe.( I often say that religions
divide us but spirituality binds us together)
Ephesians
Chapter 4 verses 4-7 T here is one body and one spirit,
as there is one hope held out in God's call to you, one Lord, one
faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over
all and through
all and in all but each of us has been given his gift, his due
portion of Christ's
then continuing down to
Chapter 6 starting with verse 11
"Put on the whole Armor of God", ( Belt or Loin
Cloth, Breast plate, Shoes, Shield , Helmet,), (Righteous is also
quoted as God’s armor in another chapter. "that you may be
able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we
wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities
(Crowns and Dominions) against powers (authority)
Against rules of the darkness of the
world (Satan) Against spiritual wickedness in
high places" (the spirit of evil also known as fallen
angels and human enemies else where)
You will find additional
references to some of these words in other scriptures.
Turn
to Romans chapter 8 verse 38
"For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers nor things present nor things to come .
Nor height, nor depth nor any other creature shall be able to separate us
from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Next
we turn to 1 Peter Chapter 3 verse 22 Peter is speaking of Christ
Jesus 'Who has gone to heaven and is on the right hand of God,
Angels and authorities and powers made subject to him." *
You might want to check out my insights to some of
these ancient terms such as principalities , dominions, powers etc on
my piece on "Choirs of Angel"
(What are Angels?)
Usually when I hear the words, "Spiritual Wickedness in high places"
my first thought turns to those who are in charge of running our
government, and many others who rule in different countries around the
globe. Being put in a position of power corrupts many a man and woman.
The pressures of leadership sometime turns even a diamond into a
lump of coal.
T hen my thoughts wander to those people who are rich and
famous. Many of which have turned off their spiritual nature and live
only for material things Their waking thoughts are how to experience
those things which are related to the 5 senses. What they see, feel,
touch, taste and hear is the only world they are concerned with. It
seems that the higher a person goes on a social scale the less he worries
about his eternal life, and the gulf between them and others less
fortunate grows wider. Theirs becomes a life of self indulgence, which
they think that they deserve any disdain for
those inferior people who have not.
In my mind, I guess I put a lot (but not all) of today’s religious
leaders in these groups. They might start out poor and their sincere
desire of the heart rules their actions but once the fame and fortune
comes their way they sometimes lose their connections to their
spiritual side , when keeping status and keeping the money flowing becomes
their driving force. Their humanity seems to flee with
their humility in it’s hand. Yes there are many who do
their best all over the globe trying to make the world a little better.
They serve in quiet little places bringing aid and help with what
resources they have on hand. The world has always had the" have and
have not's" but today the gap is wider than ever. I
guess I can best relate to Garth Brooks with "His Friends in Low Places"
as I have had few in so called "high places"
However it is my understanding that these scriptures while applicable
are not speaking of things that are earth
bound but are referring to the eternal struggle between good and evil. There are more things in heaven and earth than we have knowledge of would
still appear to be a true statement. How much of our trouble here on
earth is caused by us and how much is being initiated by unseen
entities is known to God alone. I can believe in a law of Karma as I
think what goes around comes back around (Usually to kick you in
the----). This earth may be ground zero in a battle for the souls of
mankind. So we must be prepared to stay vigilant against the force
of evil. How to put on the Armor of God is related in this Chapter of
Ephesians . So pick up that bible and read it for your self and
apply what you can.
Should you experience any kind of storm in your life, be it physical,
weather related, or financial in nature, you should mentally spins a
bubble of God’s light around your self as protection from these unseen
forces. Amen
